All three forms have been hand built using a variety of techniques from slab, to pinch, to dowel.  Some surfaces were then air brushed with terra sigillata to give it a soft matt surface.

I discovered the inspiration for this piece in Maine when on a vacation.  We had stopped to walk the dogs when I noticed these fascinating forms.  Upon closer examination I realized that the local squirrels had been picnicking on these pinecones, leaving only the smaller seeds at the tip in on the pine cone!  Great form, lovely texture, not unlike the texture of the pine tree branch.
